Bonjour de la territoire francaise

So if you would have asked me a year ago if I would be a liaison officer to a foreign military while deployed, I would have thought you were crazy. But yet here I am at Morales Frazier alongside several hundred French soldiers and only about a hundred Americans. I moved from BAF all of 3 days ago and thus far it has been a great experience (other than not getting to fly my two times a week). Being the lone American who speaks French of any sort here is going a long way, as a majority of the french officers have taken an interest in helping me improve my linguist skills. Thus far it has come back pretty well and I feel confident that I will improve greatly while I am here. No timeline as far as an exact date for when I will be finished here but I know that when I do leave I will be going to take over a platoon (YAY!!). My job here is simply to be a direct link between my task force and the french task force. What does that mean exactly? well i am kind of feeling it out as of right now, just because I am the only one not directly part of the 82nd Division's LNO team (but technically I still fall under them). I am excited and despite the fact that my flight time will not increase drastically while here, I know this will be an awesome experience that most people will never have the chance of doing. If you're wondering why all of a sudden I am updating the blog it is because since I last wrote i moved to the east side of BAF with no internet, and the internet at work blocked the blog site! But now here with the french, the internet cafe does not block it so I finally got on here after almost a month of not being able to do so! I hope all is well in the states and know that I'm thankful each day for each of you thinking of Kim and I during this deployment. Almost halfway done!! Until next time have a great week and as they say in Morales, au revoir!
