Sorry it has taken me a while to update from my side of the world! Bagram is still the same, still no snow though, which has been really surprising! I figured at least being in the mountains I might get a little taste of snow but it has yet to fall on our piece of the country. No worries tho, as it is still cold at night and i'm sure come summer time we will all be wishing for it to be a little cooler! The latest highlight of my "adventures" here in Bagram included finally getting to shoot a little bit yesterday (just target practice on the range mind you!). Just some rockets and 30mm, but it was great to shoot for the first time since late June.
In other news, I stayed after work a couple of days ago to head over the other side of the airfield to check out the Czech helicopters (yes there are Czech Republic soldiers here and they have choppers). They have MI-8's (either that or MI-17s, can't remember exactly which) and are training here at BAF before they head down south. So i got to climb aboard and check one out inside. I was quite surprised at how they have pretty much a lot of the same upgrades we have, despite being a lot smaller military. It takes their pilots 4 years to get trained which made me kinda thankful my stint at rucker was only 2! It was a cool experience and i'm waiting on some pics to get emailed to me so i can put them up on the blog.
That's the latest and greatest from here in Bagram! Still no word on when i'll be moving to the company to start my platoon leader time, but I am continuing to be patient and making the most of each day as possible! Hope all is well for you all and until next time have a great week! Take Care!
